The quality of materials and the thought that has gone into simple things like power, materials and security is excellent.
Our building is extremely versatile and because it’s been built so well provides a number of different usage options as we go through the year.
The work was completed on the day planned and the people involved couldn’t do enough to help.”

Oak Framed Outdoor Dining Area
Dorset Timber Engineering Ltd was approached by “Mr & Mrs S” via their local builder, with a view to produce an Oak Framed outdoor dining area/ canopy. The main purpose of the new structure was to gain extra light into their cottage & provide an outdoor social area.
In order to assist in the planning approval exercise, Dorset timber Engineering Ltd provided colour rendered 3-D ‘isometric’ sketches of the proposed structure tied into the existing cottage, which aided comprehension of the project aesthetics.
The project was submitted to the local authorities as the property is in a conservation area. Dorset Timber Engineering Ltd suggested to roof the new Oak structure with Canadian Western red Cedar Shingles, which not only complemented the oak, but was also very suitable for the low pitch & is also very durable. To achieve the additional light, a series of Velux conservation roof lights were used.
The structure was constructed from European green oak using mortise & tennon joints with traditional “draw pegged” seasoned oak dowels. Oak was used for the rafters & roof battens for added durability. The main posts were set onto fabricated stainless steel post bases, to give a contemporary look. This was completed with the Zinc guttering & ridge.
We hope you like the attached images, which show the final project.
